Shared shuttle or private van to Disneyland: the family maths

The shuttle is cheaper, full stop, and this page says so first. The real question is a different one: how many travellers, children and suitcases does it take before the extra cost is worth it? Here are the figures we checked, family by family.

The short answer

On your own, as a couple or as three adults, take the shuttle: the saving is clear. From four or five with young children, the private van costs more, but it leaves the moment you are through, fits the seats and drives straight to your hotel with no stops on the way. At six or seven, the shuttle's group fare is still lower than the van: comfort decides, not price.

Option 1

The shared Magical Shuttle coach links CDG and Orly with the parks in about 45 minutes, according to Disneyland Paris. Our check on 12 October 2026 found €24 per adult and €11 per child, plus a group price of €96 for 5 to 8 people. Two details matter beyond the fare: you wait for the coach's departure time, and cash is no longer accepted from 19 October 2026.

The same operator also sells private transfers from the airport: €117 by economy sedan, €152 by E-Class and €149 by van.

Option 2

And a private van with a driver?

Our Mercedes V-Class van costs €155 from Charles de Gaulle to Disneyland and €155 from Orly, for the whole vehicle, up to 7 passengers and 7 bags. The price is fixed, day or night, and covers the child seats, 60 minutes of waiting after landing, flight tracking and drop-off at your hotel. The model is guaranteed, whereas every van offer we checked on 12 October 2026 was sold as "V-Class or similar".

Some private transfers list lower prices on the same route: Paris Shuttle €90 by van, Welcome Pickups €129; others are higher, such as Transfeero's V-Class at €223.85. Our own journey is described on the CDG to Disneyland van transfer page, and the Orly one on the Orly to Disneyland transfer page.

The vehicle itself is described on our 7-seat V-Class van with driver page.

The tipping point

How many travellers before a van makes sense?

On money alone, never quite: even for seven, the shuttle's group fare stays below the van. So the difference is measured in something other than euros. For a couple with a bag each, there is nothing to discuss. For two parents with three children, a pushchair and five suitcases, the gap with individual tickets (€81 against €155) buys a departure with no waiting, seats fitted by someone else and a ride with no other passengers and no stops on the way.

Our view, to be weighed against your own situation: the van starts to make sense from four travellers including a toddler, or as soon as the luggage is more than you can comfortably carry from a coach into a hotel lobby.

From Paris

From Paris: RER A, the morning coach, a private return or a driver?

From central Paris, the airport shuttle is no use. The RER A puts the parks about 35 minutes away, with Marne-la-Vallée Chessy station a two-minute walk from the gates; four full-fare tickets cost €10.20. The Disneyland Paris Express coach arrives around 9:45 am and leaves at 9 pm; it is booked together with a park ticket and is not equipped for guests with reduced mobility.

By private car, Welcome Pickups lists €205 for the return trip for up to 8 people, with no model guaranteed; from the 8th arrondissement, Booking.com offers a 7-seat MPV at €96 one way. With us, one way by van costs €155 and the return day trip €279, V-Class guaranteed and seats included. Both options are on our Paris ↔ Disneyland private driver page.

Shuttle or private van: your questions

Is the Magical Shuttle cheaper than a private van?

Yes, in every case we checked: from €24 for one adult to €96 for a group of 5 to 8, against €155 for our van from CDG. The van costs more; what it saves is waiting for the coach to leave and carrying the bags.

What does a family of 2 adults and 3 children pay on the shuttle?

At the per-person fares recorded on 12 October 2026, two adults and three children pay €81 in total, one way from the airport. The group price, €96 for 5 to 8 people, works out dearer for five.

Can I pay for the shuttle in cash?

Not from 19 October 2026 onwards, according to the check made on 12 October 2026. Plan to pay by card or online.

Does the private van provide child seats?

Yes. Each child gets a seat suited to their age, brought and fitted by the driver at no extra cost.

Is the shuttle an option from central Paris?

The shuttle we looked at runs from CDG and Orly airports. From Paris, the choices are the RER A, the Disneyland Paris Express coach, a private return trip, or our driver, one way or for the day.

How long does each option take from CDG?

About 45 minutes by shuttle, according to Disneyland Paris. By car, route planners give 30 to 39 minutes without traffic jams; these times are estimates, not guarantees.
