Private driver by the hour in Paris
You book a car and its driver for a set number of hours and plan the day yourself: one meeting, then another, a shop, a dinner. At each address the driver drops you off, waits and picks you up again. You know the hourly rate before you book, and neither the traffic nor the time of day changes it.

What an hour with a driver costs, by vehicle
The rate covers the car and its driver, however many of you are on board. For a family or a small group, the V-Class van costs only a little more than the sedan and takes seven people with their bags, which usually makes it the one to book for a day out together.

7 passengers and 7 bags; the model you book is the model that turns up.

Four ways to use a driver by the hour
-
A day of meetings
An office at La Défense, lunch in the 8th, a signing on the Left Bank: you go from door to door without hunting for a taxi or a parking space, and your papers stay in the car.
-
Shopping
The department stores, then the Marais, then avenue Montaigne. The bags pile up in the boot as you go, and the driver is waiting outside each address.
-
An event
A wedding, a trade fair, an evening out: the car takes you there, waits until the end and brings you back, late if need be, at the same hourly rate as mid-afternoon.
-
A family day
A museum in the morning, a park in the afternoon, dinner in the evening. In the van, pushchairs and child seats stay on board between stops.
What an hour of chauffeur hire includes
During the hours you book, the car and the driver are yours: waiting between stops is not charged separately, and every hour includes 20 km of driving. Everything else follows the rules we apply to every ride:
- Fixed price confirmed before the ride, unchanged at any hour
- Age-appropriate child seat fitted by the driver, at no extra cost
- 60 minutes of free waiting time at airports, 30 at railway stations, 15 elsewhere
- Flight and train tracking: pick-up time follows any delay
- Meet and greet with a name board
- Tolls and parking included
- Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pick-up
Not included: admission, tickets and bookings at the places you visit (museums, shows, restaurants), and any mileage beyond what each hour includes, which we price with your quote if your plans need it.
Plans that leave Paris: priced on request
20 km an hour means 60 km for a 3-hour booking: enough to cross Paris several times, or to loop out to the nearby suburbs. For a day that goes further, a Loire château, a provincial town, a trip to the coast and back, the extra distance has to be priced.
We do not publish a per-kilometre rate. Describe your plans in the price request form (addresses, times, number of passengers) and we reply with a fixed price that covers every kilometre. For a distant destination with no stops on the way, the page on long-distance rides from Paris with a private driver gives fixed prices straight away.
Package or hourly driver: which one?
Two of our offers look like hourly hire but come with a set frame: Paris in 4 hours with a private driver, to cross the city with photo stops, and Versailles half-day with a private driver, travel and waiting included. Each has one overall price, with no hours or kilometres to count.
For the same length of time, the Paris in 4 hours package costs €349 by van and €285 by sedan, against €352 and €288 for 4 hours booked by the hour. Take the package if your day fits inside it; book by the hour as soon as you need more time, several unrelated addresses, or a finish somewhere other than your starting point.
How an hourly booking works
-
You tell us the plan
Start time and place, planned stops, number of passengers, children's ages. We confirm a fixed price for the time booked.
-
The driver arrives
At the agreed address and time, whether a hotel, an office, a station or the airport, with child seats already fitted.
-
Drop-off, wait, pick-up
At every stop the driver leaves you at the door and stays with the car until you are back.
-
You finish where you like
The last stop can be your hotel, a restaurant or a station: the car stops there, at the price agreed.
The V-Class van, for days out in a group
Once you are more than three, or need to keep a pushchair, bags and shopping on board, the van makes the day easier: 7 seats, 7 bags, room for child seats, and €88 an hour. It is a guaranteed Mercedes V-Class, never another model passed off as equivalent. The vehicle is described in full on the page about the 7-seater van with a driver in Paris.
Travel agencies and concierge services booking days out for their clients will find how we work with them on a separate page: transfers and hourly hire for travel agencies.

Hourly chauffeur in Paris: frequently asked questions
What is the hourly rate for a private driver in Paris?
Per hour, for the car and its driver, VAT included: E-Class sedan €72, V-Class van with 7 seats €88, S-Class €99. The minimum booking is 3 hours, which comes to €216 by sedan and €264 by van.
What if we drive more than 20 km per hour?
Each booked hour includes 20 km, which is plenty for getting around Paris. If your plans leave the city or involve long stretches of road, describe them when you ask for a price: the price we confirm covers the extra distance. There is no per-kilometre rate published in advance.
Why is there a 3-hour minimum?
Hourly hire is for days when the driver waits for you and links several stops. To go straight from one address to another, a fixed-price transfer suits you better and costs less: rides within Paris, airports, stations and Disneyland are all on the prices page.
Is the hourly rate higher in the evening or at night?
No. The hourly rate is the same at any time: an evening that finishes late costs, hour for hour, exactly what a morning of meetings does.
Will the driver come with us into shops or meetings?
No. The driver drives, drops you at the door, waits with the car and picks you up when you come out, without going inside with you and with no commentary on the places you visit: the plan and the sightseeing are yours.
Can the hire start at the airport or a railway station?
Yes. Give us your flight or train number when you ask for a price: it is tracked as for a transfer, and the driver meets you with a board showing your name.
Is a child seat included?
Yes. Tell us each child's age: the driver brings a suitable seat and fits it, at no extra cost, for the whole time you have the car.
Can I cancel an hourly booking?
Yes, free of charge up to 24 hours before the pick-up time.
