Uber in Paris with a baby: can you get a car seat?
The short answer
No guarantee: on 12 October 2026, Uber allowed booking from 2 hours to 90 days ahead, but did not guarantee a child seat. With a baby you must therefore bring your own or choose a service that supplies one.
On the market, Booking.com offers one free for under-11s, Hoppa gives the first seat, Talixo charges 30 CHF in town, and others list it “on request” with no price shown. At Precelya it is included and fitted by the driver.
Checked on 12 October 2026 (booking conditions shown by the services). The check does not cover changes Uber may have made since: verify on its website.
What the check says about Uber
Uber does not guarantee a child seat: none is promised at booking. In practice, a parent ordering a ride with a baby cannot count on a seat on board; they must bring it and fit it themselves before setting off.
This finding dates from 12 October 2026 and applies to the conditions shown then. Verify it when you book, in the app.
What other transfer services do
The check of 12 October 2026 on the booking pages shows very different practices. None of the services read states the seat's standard, the age covered or who fits it.

| Hoppa | First seat free |

What the law says for a baby
In France a suitable child restraint is mandatory from birth to age 10. Article R412-2 exempts children carried in a taxi from the seat rule; it does not mention chauffeur-driven private hire cars, and no official source we read addresses app-based services of that kind. We state the text and do not interpret it.
For an infant, the R129 standard provides rear-facing travel at least until 15 months and 83 cm. The approved height range is marked on each seat: that range counts more than the age in months.
A baby, a taxi or an app: the list to check
Before booking, three questions: is a seat supplied, to what standard, and who fits it? With a newborn, a rear-facing shell needs careful adjustment; if the seat must be fitted on arrival, better to know that before you stand on the kerb at the airport.
If you bring your own, allow time to fit it and check it suits the child's height. If you would rather carry nothing, choose a service that commits in writing and give each child's age when you book.
A child seat included, at no extra cost
At Precelya the seat suited to the child's age is included in every price on the list; each child's age goes in the price request. The two airport transfers below carry no extra line for the seat. Details for families are on the page private driver for families in Paris.
